    Cam Shaft Grinder Control
HMW offers a control system for automotive cam grinding. Cams have very complex geometric configurations. From a base circle the cam typically evolves into a convex and/or concave, or combination of the two, structure. The software to facilitate grinding wheel movement synchronized with shaft rotation is complicated. Control electronics hardware between computer and servos driving the axes is complex. The basic HMW cam grinding control system is capable of simultaneously manipulating up to 23 axes of linear rotary motion and activating 512 points of digital I/O. A typical cam control operates from 3-14 axes of motion and 50-250 I/O's.

The basic HMW cam grinding control can be and has been adapted to other grinding and machining tasks where extremely close tolerances/resolutions (into the micron range) are required.

    Machine Tool Control Retrofit
It has been said that "The control wears out before the iron does". It is for this fact that HMW offers state of the art control retrofits for used machine tools. This retrofit service covers a wide range of services from replacing aged EHPM's with specially adapted servo or stepper motors and the necessary interface electronics to complete control retrofit including gaging and machine retooling and overhaul. Depending on the complexity of the machine tool HMW will utilize product of various control component manufacturers as well as it's own to arrive at the most reliable and economical control system.

    Economy/Low Axes Count Machine Control
Rockwell A/B, G-E FANUC and Mitsubishi offer system components and integrators that are reliable and suitable for various motion and CNC applications. Those components integrated with HMW's servo, stepper motor and power supply expertise will result in reliable and affordable control solutions.
